Movement Group Developments

The three build-to-suit facilities are vibrant community gathering places, with the newest location in the heart of Denver’s RiNo. The RiNo project combines the Movement gym with Improper City, which is a bar, café, and outdoor food truck concept. The pairing of an activity-based facility with an eatery has proved to be an extremely successful model which thrives amongst its competitors.

In their 22,00 square foot, build-to-suit climbing and fitness facitlity, Bauknight Enterprises and Movement Climbing + Fitness set new standards of what was possible in the industry.  Movement Boulder opened its doors in 2009 to become a standout leader in the indoor climbing industry. As the real estate developer, Bauknight Enterprises completed the site acquisition, project financing, architecture, and construction oversite.

Indoor climbing’s popularity continued to grow and in 2014, Bauknight Enterprises expanded the partnership by developing the second location, Movement Baker.  Another ground-up development, this 32,000 SF facility tapped into a new urban market to compliment Movement Boulder.

Expansion continued as demand grew in Denver’s core. Movement RiNo presented an opportunity for a new format for Movement Group and Bauknight Enterprises: Redevelopment of an existing facility for a bouldering-only climbing and fitness gym.  While this was a departure from our ground-up development protocol, the successful remodel of 48,000 SF has become a landmark in Denver’s River North (RiNo) and is home to both Movement Climbing + Fitness, and Improper City.
